Gardaí search canal for clues about missing Dublin youths

Gardaí in Dublin are searching a stretch of the Grand Canal in Clondalkin amid fears for the safety of two 18-year-olds who have been missing for three days.

Shane Coughlan, from Mill Park in Clondalkin, and David White, from Carrigmore Avenue in Tallaght, have not been seen since leaving a friends house to buy cigarettes in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Yesterday evening, gardaí sealed off a section of the Grand Canal on Fonthill Road after a boot similar to that worn by Mr White was found on the banks.

A search was mounted and is due to continue today in the hope of finding clues about the men's disappearance.

Anyone with information about the case is being urged to contact gardaí in Clondalkin or Tallaght.
