Review into HSE's handling of Waterford teen's death underway

An independent review is to take place into the HSE's handling of a Waterford teenager, who apparently died after sniffing solvents in Dungarvan last month.

Dr Harry Ferguson from the University of the West of England in Bristol will carry out the independent review of the HSE's handling of the case and will assist in making recommendations.

According to Fine Gael TD John Deasy he contacted the authorities over concern about Michelle Bray's behaviour, and the fact that she and other family members had dropped out of school.

On January 21, 14-year-old Michelle died as a result of solvent inhalation.

The HSE says the report should be completed at the earliest possible opportunity and once again extended its deepest sympathy to the Bray family.
