Pathologist to perform post mortem on Wexford fire victims

State pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy will carry out post mortems later today on the bodies of a mother and child killed in a house fire in Co Wexford.

Alice Connors, 42, and her seven-year-old daughter Mary died when the blaze engulfed their home in Adamstown, Enniscorthy in the early hours of yesterday morning. It is believed that Alice died after re-entering the house in an attempt to save Mary.

Alice's husband was not at home at the time, and her 18-year-old son managed to escape by jumping from a window.

Gardaí are investigating the cause of the fire, but say it is not being treated as suspicious.
