One of the country's biggest trade unions has called on the Government to do more to encourage people to invest in their pension.

Amicus has said that it wants to see an SSIA-style initiative introduced to promote more workers to save for their future.

The union claims that only one million people have any form of personal pension in this country, despite high profile campaigns by the Government and the pensions board.

The union is holding a pension summit in Croke Park today.
