Dáil protest over downgrading of Monaghan hospital

A protest is taking place outside the Dáil over the downgrading of hospital services in the Monaghan region.

Demonstrators from the Monaghan Hospital Alliance handed in a Valentines Card for Minister for Health Mary Harney.

The HSE has just released a statement pledging to upgrade hospital services in Monaghan.

It is planning to develop a number of small local hospitals for minor A&E services around a central regional hospital
