A woman and her three-year-old son have been rescued from a burning apartment in Dublin's south inner city.

A woman and her three-year-old son have been rescued from a burning apartment in Dublin's south inner city.

The blaze broke out in the early hours of this morning on Mountdown Road in Perrystown.

Fire officers say it may have been caused by vandals setting a bin alight outside the premises.

The mother and son are being treated in hospital for smoke inhalation.
