A 21-year-old Dublin man has pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court to the murder of a man who was shot in the back of the head just over a year ago.

A 21-year-old Dublin man has pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court to the murder of a man who was shot in the back of the head just over a year ago.

Stephen Kelly from Balcurris Road in Ballymun denies the murder of 28-year-old Ian McConnell who was gunned down outside the door of his first floor flat at Shangan Road in north Dublin on December 11, 2005.

Mr Kelly who was wearing a black corduroy suit appeared briefly before Mr Justice Paul Carney today who swore in a jury of six men and six women for the trial which is due to begin tomorrow on Wednesday. The case is expected to last two weeks.
