The Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism has outlined details of how he plans to spend the €1.3bn allocated to his department under the National Development Plan.

The Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism has outlined details of how he plans to spend the €1.3bn allocated to his department under the National Development Plan.

John O'Donoghue says €288m will be spent on the proposed National Theatre and the revamped National Concert Hall, while €145m will go towards developing the film sector and €991m towards sporting facilities.

Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Mary Coughlan says the planned €8.7bn investment in agriculture and food will help to secure farmers' long-term income and ensure safety for consumers in the food-supply chain.
