Bank of Ireland economist Dr Dan McLaughlin has warned that the new National Development Plan will not address Ireland's infrastructure deficit in one fell swoop.

The €184bn plan was launched amid much fanfare by the Government yesterday.

It includes €31bn of spending on roads and public transport over the next seven years.

However, Mr McLaughlin says it will take much more than this to bring Ireland up to the same standard as other western European countries.
