Gardaí appeal for witnesses to fatal Tallaght stabbing

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the fatal stabbing of Michael Gallagher in Tallaght last night.

The 60-year-old was stabbed a number of times in the kitchen of his house on Tymonville Road.

Two men, armed with a knife and a hammer, gained entry to the house just after 10pm last night.

They assaulted Mr. Gallagher's partner before stabbing him a number of times.

They then fled the scene, on foot, in the direction of Tymon North Road.

Gardaí are trying to establish a motive for the murder.

Superintendent Declan Coburn described one of the men as being approximately five feet eleven, and wearing a fawn coloured coat.
