School pupils are being warned that they will be suspended from classes if they vandalise new seat-belts installed on school buses.

School pupils are being warned that they will be suspended from classes if they vandalise new seat-belts installed on school buses.

Junior Education Minister Sean Haughey said this morning that he was concerned about reports of seatbelts being cut on some buses in Cork, Galway, Laois and Offaly.

Some teenagers have already been penalised, and authorities are using CCTV cameras to try to identify more culprits.

Mr Haughey is calling on students to desist from this activity, saying they are putting the lives of other children at risk.
