Motorists urged to undergo regular eye tests
Motorists are being urged to undergo more regular eye tests to avoid posing a danger to other road users.
At present, drivers have to undergo an eye test when applying for a provisional licence.
However, the Association of Optometrists of Ireland says people's vision can change over time and someone with good eyesight may need glasses or contact lenses within a few years.
It says motorists should get their eyesight checked every two years, while older people should visit their optician more regularly.
