Man arrested in connection with hotel worker stabbing

A 32-year-old man was arrested last night in connection with the stabbing of a hotel worker in Ennis, Co Clare.

The Filipina female member of staff, aged 29, was taken to Ennis General Hospital with serious injuries after the attack. Her condition has been described as not life-threatening, though it is believed she was scheduled for emergency surgery.

Gardaí in Ennis confirmed they detained a man after the attack took place at around 6pm.

Officers who responded to the emergency call arrested the man in the vicinity of the hotel.

Gardaí are holding him for questioning at Ennis Garda Station under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.
