Second Kildare house fire claims man’s life

A third person has been killed in a second fatal house fire in the Curragh in Co Kildare.

The man in his 50s was found dead at a bungalow in the area at around 9.30am today.

This comes just a day after a young couple died in a blaze at their home in nearby McMurrough Hill.

This second fatal house fire comes as the Co Kildare community comes to terms with the tragic deaths of a young couple on New Year's Day.

The man's body was found at his bungalow in Ballysax in the Curragh by a visiting relative.

The latest fire happened a five-minute drive from where 23-year-old Darren Hanly and 21-year-old Amanda Murphy died in a blaze at their home early yesterday morning.

The causes of the two fires is not yet known, but they are not being treated as suspicious.
