Kilkenny priest removes protest signs from school

A parish priest has today removed signs from outside a Co Kilkenny school.

The signs read - "The Children of Gowran don't matter to Fianna Fáil and Labour".

They were erected as part of a local campaign to get a pedestrian crossing at the busy school.

Last week, Kilkenny Fianna Fáil councillors complained to the Bishop of Ossory over the nature of the campaign.

After speaking to Bishop Lawrence Forristal this morning - parish priest Fr Pat Dalton removed the signs.

Fr Dalton says the school is formally not going to be in conflict with the council at this stage.
