Undisclosed sum stolen in Longford post office raid

Two men armed with a knife and an iron bar have escaped with an undisclosed sum of money following a post office raid in Co Longford this morning.

The pair entered the building in Kenagh at around 9.30am.

One of the raiders stood guard at the door while the other jumped the country and took a sum of money from the cash register.

They then fled the scene in a waiting car that was found burned out a short time later around a mile away in Abbeyderg.

A number of customers were in the post office at the time of the robbery, but no one was injured.
