INHO welcomes nursing home payments increase

The Irish Nursing Homes Organisation (INHO) has welcomed Minister for Finance Brian Cowen's comments that nursing home subvention payments will be increased as part of Budget 2007.

"Reforming the nursing home subvention scheme is a fundamental element of ensuring access to appropriate and quality care for the increasing older population in Ireland," the INHO said in a statement today.

"We look forward to hearing the Minister for Health’s proposals for reforming the system. However, we also call on the Minister to introduce, as a matter of priority, the legislation to establish an independent and adequately resourced nursing home inspectorate."
