Home-buyers and those paying rent are set to benefit to the tune of €74m next year, after the Minister for Finance Brian Cowen announced a number of measures in his Budget 2007 speech.

Mortgage interest relief is set to double, bringing a potential €133 per month back into the pockets of the average married couple and €66 for a single person with a mortgage.
