Man in his 80s dies in Mayo road accident

A man in his 80s has died following a road accident in Co Mayo this afternoon.

It is understood that the man's car left the road at Belclare, Westport shortly after 1pm.

He was brought to Castlebar General Hospital, where he died a short time later. Gardaí at Westport are investigating.

It brings to four the number of people killed on the roads, on both sides of the border, this weekend.
