A north Dublin TD has hit out at Dublin City Council for it’s handling of the disruption to the water supply for thirty-five thousand homes in the north of the city.

Independent Deputy Finian McGrath says the disruption - due to works on Dublin Port Tunnel - was badly planned.

Areas across the north-east of Dublin are without water since yesterday evening.

Service is expected to be restored by 6pm tomorrow evening.

“I think it's been a major management disaster for Dublin City Council - we have 35,000 North Dublin homes directly affecting 100,000 people, and they're literally told 48 hours before the event,” said Deputy McGrath.

“I think it's insulting, it's a disgraceful example of management, and I'd like to know where is the so-called new communications system put in place,” he said.
