Ahern highlights challenge of explaining EU to public

Explaining the European Union to the public remains the 25-state bloc’s greatest challenge, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern told the EU Parliament today.

In a keynote address to MEPs at the Brussels assembly, Mr Ahern also said Ireland was committed to holding a referendum on the stalled Constitutional Treaty.
