One woman dies, one injured in Cork house fire
One woman is dead and another is injured after a house fire in Cork city last night.
The blaze broke out in a downstairs front room of a two story terraced house on St Enda's Road in Gurranabraher just before 10pm.
The owner of the house was rescued first by firefighters after the alarm was raised by a neighbour.
She was resuscitated and brought to the Mercy Hospital where she was treated for smoke inhalation.
The deceased woman, believed to be in her 50s, was understood to have been visiting the house.
Although she was also rescued from the burning house, she could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead at the scene.
