The Department of Justice is insisting that burglaries are declining across the country despite an Eircom Phonewatch study showing that they have increased by 26% since last year.

The company says its analysis shows that break-ins in Dublin were up 12% between June 2005 and June 2006, while those outside the capital were up by a massive 35%.
