Sixteen police officers in the North are facing disciplinary hearings after being convicted of drink-driving since the start of this year.

Sixteen police officers in the North are facing disciplinary hearings after being convicted of drink-driving since the start of this year.

The PSNI says the number of officers being caught drink-driving is totally unacceptable and any officer convicted of the charge will be answering misconduct charges.

Deputy chief constable Paul Leighton says those who fall short of the high standards maintained by the rest will be forced to pay the price.
