Three young men killed in Mayo crash

Three young men, two of whom are believed to be cousins, have been killed in yet another crash on Ireland's roads.

The three work colleagues died just before 6.30pm yesterday evening when their car collided head-on with a small truck on the outskirts of Ballinrobe, Co Mayo.

The victims were all in their 20s and had been living in the Ballinrobe area.

Gardaí are still trying to establish what caused the crash, which happened during reasonable weather conditions on a straight stretch of the Castlebar road, near the entrance to the local racecourse.

The deaths bring to 318 the number of people killed on Ireland's roads so far this year.
