Gardaí believe Croom murder victim was killed by intruder

Gardaí in Co Limerick reportedly believe that a man found dead outside his home in the village of Croom at the weekend was killed after confronting a burglar at his home.

Fifty-nine-year-old Liam O'Donovan was found dead on the footpath outside his home on Saturday morning.

He had suffered a violent assault and had been stabbed in the chest.

Gardaí initially believed Mr O’Donovan had confronted a person trying to steal his car.

However, reports this morning say they are now satisfied that he was woken by a burglar trying to gain entry to his house and was killed after confronting the intruder.
