Minister seeks recommendations to develop Irish language

The Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs has asked the Board of Udarás na Gaeltachta for a set of recommendations on the development of the Irish Language and Irish-speaking areas.

Minister Eamon O’Cuiv wants to know how the authority will offset its cultural and social functions with its role in industrial development.

He also wants to know if legislation currently being drafted should recognise that the primary role of the Udarás is to sustain vibrant Irish-speaking communities throughout the Gaeltacht.
