Man dies in collision with lorry in Westmeath

A man has died in a collision between his car and a lorry on the Kilbeggan to Mullingar road in Co Westmeath today.

The accident happened at around 5.30am on Racecourse Road.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, while the lorry driver was not seriously injured.

The fatality brings to 307 the number of people killed on Ireland's roads so far this year.
