Nurses postpone planned protest at Cavan Hospital
The Irish Nurses Organisation has postponed its planned protest action at Cavan General Hospital today.
Nurses were planning to mount a lunchtime protest followed by a work-to-rule action in the afternoon as part of a dispute over staff shortages.
However, the INO has now agreed to defer the action following talks this morning with the Health Service Executive.
The organisation says the HSE has failed to implement a Labour Court recommendation from last year calling for the hiring of eight such staff to ensure nurses can dedicate their time solely to nursing duties.
It is vowing to reinstate its planned protest if the proposal is not implemented by November 27.
