Govt urged to explain €170m spend on fibre-optic cables

The Green Party is calling on the Government to explain why €170m is being spent on fibre-optic telecom lines that may never be used.

Twenty-seven metropolitan area networks have already been constructed and a further 90 are due to be built in the next year in every town with a population of more than 1,500 people.
