Murphy family seek Justice Department funding to examine reports

Brian Murphy's parents are seeking funding from the Department of Justice to pay for an independent pathologist to examine their son's pathology reports.

The inquest into his death has been adjourned for the third time this year to allow lawyers for the family obtain further documentation relating to his death.

The Murphy family want an independent expert to study Brian's pathology report and want Michael McDowell's department to pay for it.

Conflicting opinions on what caused Brian Murphy's death from John Harbison and current State Pathologist Marie Cassidy led to this.

Brian Murphy died in August 2000 following an incident outside Club Annabel in Dublin.

Coroner Dr Brian Farrell adjourned the inquest until after Christmas today and will give a date when it's up for mention again on December 11.
