Man rescued off Galway dies in hospital

A man who was rescued from the water on the Galway coast this afternoon has since died in hospital.

A lifeboat took the man from the sea at Ballyloughane after a passerby raised the alarm at around 2pm this afternoon.

He was later pronounced dead at University College Hospital in Galway.
