Man battered by baseball bat gang
A young man was left fighting for his life today after being battered by a gang armed with a baseball bat and golf club in west Dublin.
The 25-year-old was set upon in the brutal attack after four youths were stopped from joining a house party in the Greenfort Lawns area of Clondalkin.
The assault occurred shortly before 4am today.
The man suffered head injuries and was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown. He is in a serious condition.
Gardaí said four youths were involved in the attack after arming themselves with a baseball bat and golf club. Detectives are investigating reports that the gang had been turned away from a party a short time earlier, armed themselves and returned to carry out the assault.
Two cars were also vandalised in the incident.
Gardaí said they wish to speak to the driver of a taxi which may have taken the four attackers from the scene or any person who may have information about the attack.
