Man due in court in relation to garda shooting
A man in his twenties is due to appear before court in Dublin this morning in connection with the shooting of a garda sergeant three days ago.
Sergeant Mark Clarke was shot in the chest and hand after going to the scene of a shooting in Crumlin.
He was shot with a single barrel shotgun when he approached a parked car.
Garda reports say Sergeant Clarke’s turned sideways when the shot was fired and that his cap, which was under his arm, absorbed some of the impact of the blast.
Yesterday, a 16-year-old boy was charged at the Children's Court in connection with the incident and was remanded in custody to St Patrick's Institution until next week.
