Journalist refuses to reveal source to tribunal
The Irish Times journalist who wrote the article regarding payments to Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has refused to reveal his sources to the Mahon Tribunal today.
The newspaper's public affairs correspondent, Colm Keena, was summoned to appear before the tribunal today along with editor Geraldine Kennedy.
However, he refused to reveal the source of his story last week revealing that Bertie Ahern was under investigation in relation to payments he received from businessmen in 1993 and 1994.
The piece stated that businessman David McKenna was one of a number of people who had been contacted by the tribunal in relation to the payments.
However, Mr Keena refused to say today if he had seen the letter from the tribunal or if the source of his information was anonymous.
