IT editor due before tribunal over Bertie payments story

The editor of the Irish Times and the newspaper's public affairs correspondent are due before the Mahon Tribunal today to explain the leak that has left the Taoiseach in major political trouble.

Geraldine Kennedy and Colm Keena have been summoned to appear today to answer questions about the source of the leak.

The Irish Times reported last week that Mr Ahern was being investigated in connection with payments he received from businessmen in the early 1990s.

Tribunal chairman Judge Alan Mahon has ordered that the newspaper hand over all copies of documents quoted in the article.
