Irish Times editor summoned to appear before tribunal

The editor of the Irish Times and one of the newspaper's correspondents have been summoned to appear before the Mahon Tribunal later this week.

The tribunal is seeking answers from editor Geraldine Kennedy and correspondent Colm Keena about the source of documents quoted in the newspaper's story on payments to Bertie Ahern.

The article revealed that the tribunal was investigating payments to Mr Ahern from several wealthy businessmen while he was Minister for Finance in 1993.

Ms Kennedy and Mr Keena are due to appear before the tribunal on Friday.
