The Irish Red Cross worker, who was kidnapped in Ethiopia has been released and is reported to be safe and well.

Newspaper reports today claim the group responsible for the capture had mistaken Donal O'Suilleabhain and his Ethiopian colleague for foreign oil workers.

O'Suilleabhain, originally from Sligo, was captured by armed individuals in the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia on 18 September.

The two Red Cross workers were travelling in a convoy of three vehicles with six other Ethiopian staff who were allowed to return home safely.
