Pensioner tied up and beaten during Galway robbery

A 75-year-old man has been hospitalised after being beaten and robbed in his home in Co Galway last night.

A 75-year-old man has been hospitalised after being beaten and robbed in his home in Co Galway last night.

Two men and a woman entered the victim's house in the Ballygar area between 9pm and 10pm before attacking him and tying him up.

They then ransacked the house and stole a substantial sum of money.

The pensioner managed to escape and raise the alarm a short time later before being taken to hospital for treatment.

Gardaí are examining the scene of the crime and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
