Proposals to revolutionise the teaching of the Irish language are being discussed at an education conference in Dublin today.

The proposals from Conradh na Gaeilge would see trainee teachers being forced to take one year of their course through Irish.

The organisation also wants a subject such as art, drama or PE to be taught through Irish at primary-school level.
