Road Safety Authority formally established

The Minister for Transport, Michael McDowell, has signed the order formally establishing the Road Safety Authority.

The board, headed by Gay Byrne, which has been working on an interim basis since May, is now formally appointed.

Its headquarters is in Ballina, County Mayo where 129 staff will be based.

There will also be 41 staff in Loughrea, County Galway.
