Committee receives report on Judge Curtin’s computer

The Oireachtas committee investigating the activities of Judge Brian Curtin has reportedly received an expert report on the contents of his computer.

The committee was set up to investigate the judge after he was acquitted on charges of possessing child pornography due to a mistake with the warrant used to search his house in May 2002. It was out of date.

Earlier this year, the committee secured access to his computer so it could be examined by technical experts.

Reports this morning say a report on the contents of the machine has now been completed and the committee will forward a copy to the judge's legal team in the coming weeks.

The committee has also reportedly been in contact with the US investigator who linked Judge Curtin's credit card to a child pornography website.

The investigator, Michael Mead, is expected to be invited to give evidence to the committee when it begins hearings in October.
