Two Dublin hotels evacuated after overnight fires

More than 800 people were evacuated from two hotels in Dublin following separate fires overnight.

Around 400 people were evacuated from the Regency Hotel in the Drumcondra area after smoke was seem coming from a lift shaft in a new section of the building.

Nobody was injured in the blaze and all the guests later returned to their rooms.

The second blaze broke out just before 3am at the Gresham Hotel on O'Connell Street.

Another 400 people were evacuated after the fire started in a disused store at the back of the hotel. There were also no injuries in that blaze, but some damage was caused to the building.
