11-year-old boy killed in farm accident

An 11-year-old boy has died after being injured by a potato-harvester on a farm in Co Kilkenny yesterday afternoon.

The accident happened at around 3.30pm while Richard Ryan, from Ballygorey, was helping out on a neighbour's farm.

The boy was rushed to hospital, but died from his injuries during the night.

The local parish priest, Fr Eamon O'Gorman, said today that the community was in shock following the accident.
