Mayo crash adds another victim to weekend death toll

A 33-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman have become the latest victims of crashes on the roads.

The man died early today when his car collided with another vehicle on the Ballinrobe Road near Westport in Co Mayo just after midnight.

The woman, meanwhile, died in hospital yesterday after losing control of her motorcycle on a bend in the road at Crettyard in Co Laois shortly after 1pm.

The latest deaths bring to eight the number of people killed in road accidents at the weekend.

The other victims died in crashes in Tipperary, Wexford, Limerick and Kilkenny.
