A teenager remains in Garda custody in Cork this morning in connection with an arson attack on the home of a city councillor.
The 17-year-old is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. A second youth has been released without charge.
Green Party councillor Chris O'Leary woke up in the early hours of yesterday morning to find his front porch and doorway on fire.
He managed to escape with his wife and daughter, who were also asleep in the house at the time. They were all treated for smoke inhalation.
It is the second time his house has been attacked in 18 months.
