Gardaí appeal for witnesses to ambulance crewman stabbing

Gardaí have called for witnesses after a medical technician was attacked by two men at Youghal Community Hospital last night.

Superintendent Liam Hayes of the Midleton gardaí today called on anyone who may have information to come forward.

One of the attackers has been described as wearing a grey Adidas hoody top.

Garda forensic teams were set to examine the site this morning, and further examinations are to be undertaken today.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Peter Curley, spokesman for the ambulance service of the Health Service Executive South, said: “The HSE strongly condemns this kind of vicious and unprovoked attack.

“However, we believe the fact that this attack was made on a frontline health worker was an unfortunate coincidence.”

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the gardaí at Youghal station on (024) 92200.
