Headline crimes down slightly in second quarter of 2006

Minister for Justice Michael McDowell has announced a slight reduction in headline crime figures during the second quarter of this year.

Figures published by the minister today show that the total number of crimes reported to the Gardaí was down 1% compared to the same period in 2005.
