Abbeylara shooting report due next week

The report of the Barr Inquiry into the shooting dead of John Carthy is now expected to be published next week.

Mr Carthy was shot dead by gardaí following a siege at his home in Abbeylara, Co Longford on April 20, 2000.

The Barr Tribunal was set up to establish the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.

The inquiry's report was due to have been published last December but was delayed.

A spokesperson for the tribunal has now confirmed that the report will be laid before the Dáil on Thursday of next week.
