National helpline for troubled teens established
A new national helpline for troubled teens will be launched today.
The ’Teen Line’ service is the brainchild of Dublin mother Maureen Bolger who lost her 16-year-old son Darren to suicide in April 2003.
“It is aimed at any young person feeling lonely, vulnerable, isolated, depressed or even suicidal,” said Bolger.
Volunteers are also trained to take calls from people with mental health problems. The freephone 1800-833-634 number will go live tomorrow morning.
Lord Mayor of Dublin Cllr Vincent Jackson will launch the helpline in Tallaght today.
